Belconnen Skatepark
Rebuilt in 2011 by the amazing folks at Convic (see the details here http://www.convic.com/projects/belconnen) this is truly one of Australia best skateparks. It all starts at the western end with the original 10ft keyhole bowl before descending quickly (via a big stair set) into an epic snakebowl of roiling, curving, taco-ing tranny’s that wrap up in a stunning 8ft bowl. You can get lost in these virtual waves before finally hitting the lip and the deep-end. Once you exit the bowl you are immediately greeted with a cracking 4ft mini with a couple of extension, sure it has some big coping, but its still rock solid and when its not filled with scooter kids you can have a lot of fun here.
On the lower level running alongside the snakebowl/mini is the eclectic street plaza. An inspired collection of stair sets, boxes, tacos, manual pads, ledges and various street bits – simply too much to try and detail here. Importantly tho it caters to skaters of all skill levels, weather you’re just learning you’re first ollie’s onto a manual pad or tray flipping a 7-stair, there is something here to keep you busy for hours. The surface is silky smooth and fast and all of the lips, edging and coping are in great condition given its only a couple of years old.
Apart from the awesomeness of the actual skatepark, one of the highlights of Belco is that its open and under full lights till 11:30pm every night – so you can really have a full day here. And you need it. The only downside is the scooters… lots of scooters everywhere, especially in the school holidays.
Heaps of food, parking and amenities around. There really is no excuse not to visit!

Mabel Davis (Austin) Skatepark
Downtown Austin is home to one epic skatepark, 15,000 square feet of cement that is perfectly organized for some serious skateboarding fun.
As with most US Skateparks we’ve visited, Austin offers a great mix of both street and ramp. Starting at the south east end you’ll find a truly beautiful bowl that’s uniquely dynamic in both shape and design. It’s kind of two largish bowls that meet with a nice little hump/hip in the middle. It’s mostly around 6ft but extends to 7ft in places and also has a 10ft rounded extension that hits vert. As well as being awesome for carving out smooth, fast lines, there’s also some great sections that work perfectly as a mini. The coping and surface are in near perfect condition making this bowl a total joy to ride.
Exiting the bowl will lead you down to a large, open street area that is cleverly filled with all kinds of rampy, streety goodness. It starts with series of banks, transitions, rails and staircases (9 & 6) that lead down to an open flat area full of interesting boxes, pyramids, rails and other oddities. At the southern end is some larger quarters and a 40ft long 3-4ft mini that’s a lot of fun. Scattered around the perimeter there’s even more boxes, edging and kinky little 2ft transitions. Everywhere you turn there’s something to use and the diversity of shapes and sizes means this skatepark is awesome for all skill levels.
If you know anything about Austin you’ll know it gets very very hot here so make the most of the small shaded areas and big trees around the bowl end. There’s also a viewing area that’s partially shaded and other seating scattered throughout.
The locals here are awesome and the park is well used by skaters and BMX’rs of all ages who really respect their park. A really great vibe.
Plenty of free parking and the park also has good restrooms and bubblers. Apart from the August heat this skatepark is a real cracker, highly recommended.Check out some more historical detail here.
Vans Skatepark
Stunning indoor/outdoor skatepark that is part of the huge Vans store in downtown Orange County. This is basically a huge warehouse so filled with skateparkery that it’s ridiculous to try and give every detail. But here we go…
The skatepark is broken down into four main sections:
Street: just a monster! So full of fast, smooth awesomeness. Banks of all shapes, sizes and angles. Perfectly placed transitions scattered throughout and of course rails, hubba’s, boxes and stairs all over the place. The vast range of shapes and sizes means its great for skaters of all ages and skills, and the sections are cleverly grouped to suit. Theres even a cracking little 3ft mini hidden around the back. It’s all epic.
Mini: A beautifully transitioned 6ft wooden construction with a couple of extensions that just hit vert. Once again the surface is beautiful and fast and the coping is slightly chunky but sits nicely. At about 80ft wide this is close perfect for this kind of ramp, so much room to maneuver and play around. Oh and one of the extensions also has chunky pool style coping.
Bowl: Trusty old school style cement pool with two levels. The shallow end starts at 6ft with a quick transition. The and deep end sinks to around 10ft. The coping matches the pool style roots and the surface is blisteringly fast. A solid skate.
Outdoor street: a smaller cement street section sits just outside the warehouse if you want to bask in the glorious Californian sun. It’s a basic setup with a…
Apart from the obvious awesomeness of this place it’s worth noting just how well maintained it is. Every surface is slick and fast. The entire operation is first class and this is a must see skatepark.
There’s a range of vantage points from which to view all the action as well as heaps of vending and game machines. Restrooms and lockers so you can really settle in here for a full day. The adjoining vans store is huge and full of Skateboarding booty to check out. It’s all part of a much larger shopping mall so there’s tonnes of parking, food and amenities around.
Santa Barbara Skatepark
A beautiful beachside skatepark right beside the pier in downtown Santa Barbara. Its a decent setup that combines a nice open bowl with with a solid street course.
The main 6ft bowl tapers down to an open shallow end at around 4ft and has a nice transition and mid size coping. Lots of fun on this one. The adjoining street course is relatively simple but features a cracking little curved, tapered transition just as you exit the main bowl thats complete with dual coping (small spine). At the other end a series of 5-6ft banks (one extended transition) lead to a central area that has a couple of interesting funboxes as well as some rails, blocks and hubba’s. There’s plenty of lines to be had here just doing end to end tricks and dipping into the bowl occasionally. The surface is in pretty good condition and fast enough, and all the coping and edging is a little worn and slow but otherwise ok.
The skatepark is very well used by a tonne of locals of all ages. Some very rad skaters amongst them. And while skaters dominate there’s always a bunch of BMX’rs here so it can get pretty hectic. It’s also surrounded by gazing tourists so there’s often a crowd gasping and snapping on the sidelines.
Not a lot of free parking around as its surrounded by hotels and tourist spots. But there is plenty of food and amenities and it’s right by State Street and Downtown. Monterey Skatepark
A small but blisteringly fast skatepark located right on Monterey’s beautiful & historic coastline. The park was designed by a bunch of local skaters and works pretty well, although given its size the lines are quite limited. The setup is a series of rails and roll-in banks at the far end that lead to a couple of central funboxes with various transitions, coping and rails. Scattered around the edge is an interesting set of stairs, some simple grind blocks and some strange little banks. Wrapping it all up is a very fun circular, tapered bank with beautiful transition and stunning coping. While the surface is very very fast, its looking a little beaten up in some places

Overall an enjoyable little skatepark but you’d probably not spend a huge amount of time here as there isn’t a lot of variety. There’s a great high speed line you can work that slingshots you down around the tapered bank for some fast lip tricks.
The skatepark is part of a larger park area and has all the expected amenities. Its also not too far from the touristy part of town (wharf full of attractions & food) and close to Monterey’s very impressive Aquarium. Open daily from 9am till dusk.

It features a series of 4-5ft banks at one end and range of 5ft open bowl transitions and smaller quarters at the other. Completing the setup is a 3ft central bank with a small hubba and rails. There are also various elevated ledges, small boxes and grind rails scattered throughout. All together its and intriguing and delightful skatepark. The transitions and heights are perfect for the space and you can continually carve lines from one end to the other utilising the entire park – a lot of fun!
The surface is a little worn but not enough to slow you down and all the coping sits nicely. All in all this is a very solid little skatepark, we had an awesome session here and will definitely be back.
There’s (limited) street parking nearby, toilets and bubblers around. The park is right alongside a suburban AFL field with some basketball & tennis courts as well. Not a lot of shops immediately nearby so pack a sandwich.
Menai Skatepark
Menai Skatepark is a unique adventure and has been designed a little differently to the typical prefab suburban skatepark. The setup features a couple of conjoined 6ft half bowls on one side, a bank of varying height transitions at the other and a central flat area with an odd funbox. The bowls are joined with a kind of hip in the middle which makes them quite different. The funbox is strange octagon shape and probably too high given the surrounding space and access. The biggest problem here is the design just doesn’t provide enough speed to utilise any of the transitions (in part because the surface is slow and rough). You can drop in on the big quarter banks and just not make it all the way to the coping on the bowls on the other side. It’s a bit of a shame and lends itself more to the BMX’rs really.
The details look like this: Quarter trannies range from 9ft (vert) 4ft; Half-bowls are 8ft half and 6ft and finally two funboxes – the 4ft octagon shape model and the much more useful smaller one. The surface is rough, the coping average at best but there are lights for a night session.

The skatepark sits on the edge of a shopping centre and that provides all the amenities you’d need (parking, food, toilets). There’s also a larger surrounding park area that offers plenty of shade, BBQ’s and play equipment.
Macquarie Fields Skatepark
Macquarie Fields is home to a relatively new skatepark (constructed in 2011 by the awesome Convic) and first thing you notice is just how amazingly slick the surface is, so fast and smooth that just cruising around it is a delight! But you’ll quickly understand the epicness of the design – a smattering of bowls, transitions, boxes and banks spread over a large and well considered space. This would have to be one of Sydney’s best.
At one end it features a stunning bowl with a unique shape and beautiful transitions. The rest of the park is an open street course with all kinds of bits and pieces. There’s shallow banks with grindable edges and extensions, hubba’s galore and funboxes/rails that are perfectly positioned for full speed assult. There’s also a plethora of transitions including a corner section, a couple of open bowls and a hump with coping. It’s all pretty small in size (mostly around 3-4ft) so its good for skaters of all sizes, but its blazingly fast and super fun.
Being this awesome does mean that it is regularly packed (especially on the weekends). Tonnes of BMX’rs and younger scooter dudes fill the place – but so do a lot of skaters and it’s large enough that you can always find somewhere to have a decent jam. However you may not be able to do the end-to-end runs that make this skatepark so much fun.
As an added bonus it also has lights! (very rare in Sydney) tho we’ve not skated there after dark and you would want to be careful in this area at night. There’s plenty of free parking, bubblers, brand new toilets and the skatepark is part of a larger public space that also houses basketball and tennis courts. Campbeltown Skatepark (Leumeah)
Located at the fast-food crossroads in downtown Campbelltown is this slowly ageing skatepark (built over a decade ago). It’s not amazing but it is large, diverse and combines a few interesting bits and pieces that could make it worth a look. Spread over a vast area, the skatepark features a range of pyramid banks, funboxes, rails and transitions of various sizes (from 2ft-6ft). The epic canyon in the middle of the main transitions makes us think it was designed specifically with BMX’rs in mind, but there’s still some decent lines to be had here.
The hightlights are probably the two “minis”. The larger one (often dominated by BMX’rs) is a neat little 4ft that plays well, the smaller 2.5ft is just fun and a great place for the little skater dudes to hit the lip and hone their skills.
Overall this skatepark provides plenty to do but sadly you’ll spend a lot of time dodging scooters and BMX’s, and its fairly packed most of the time. Add to that a rough, slow surface and coping that’s been hammered by a constant barrage of local BMX dudes. There’s even lights but I wouldn’t recommend hitting this place at night… unless you have a posse.

The park is located smack bang in the middle of shopping centre so there’s amenities, free parking and a scary amount of (fast) food around.
Cherrybrook Skatepark
Odd little bowl hidden behind an epic sporting complex and shopping centre in the North West suburbs of greater Sydney. It’s odd in that it’s so very tiny in height (maybe, just maybe 3ft), yet it has an epic flat expanse in between the transitions. It’s basically a very wide open bowl thing with a couple of extensions. The surface is kind of course/rough and the coping is really small and buried. While its not the most enticing skatepark, it is perfectly suited to kiddie shredders & noobs. A great place to learn dropping and or rock-to-fakie’s on a small, forgiving bowl. Oh, and there’s lights!
Plenty of parking (not all free tho) and its right alongside a shopping complex so food & amenities abound. There’s are basketball & tennis courts and lots of grassy knoll’s around if that’s your thing.
Old Bar Beach Skatepark
Also known as the Rod Maguire Community Skatepark, this park only utilises a small space but it is jam packed with pre-fab goodness. Of all the pre-fab setups we’ve seen, this is probably one of the best. At each end it features a bank of 4-5ft transitions – some with coping, some just roll-ins. In between is a 2ft transitioned funbox that has a good elevated grind-box and a cracking hand-rail (about 7ft long).
What makes this park work is the fact that its a bit smaller in surface area, the flat between each of the 3 sections is shorter and the flow feels more like a couple of mini-ramps then a bunch of quarters. The central funbox is also more interesting than the usual pre-fab options. All together an entertaining and fun little skatepark.
Sadly the day we visited it was too wet to have a decent go here, but we’ll be back! Free parking and parkland and beach nearby, but proper amenities and food are a short walk/drive back up the main street.
Taree Skatepark
Taree Skatepark is a collection of pe-fab quarters, banks and boxes loosely arranged at the edge of Taree Park. The quarters come in all the usual shapes and sizes (4-5ft, some with coping, some roll-ins) while the banks are really just moulded cement mounds. The central funbox is bigger than usual here (similar to Harrington) and has a elevated rail/grind bar. The final piece in the puzzle is two 3ft quarters joined to form a spine.
The arrangement is a bit odd and hasn’t been that well thought out, but you can still string a few tricks together – especially from the larger roll-in onto the funbox. The surface is in reasonable condition, a bit rough in parts. The coping is all OK looks like it gets BMX use.
Plenty of parking around, and a quick walk in any direction and you’ll find food and amenities.
Bonny Hills Skatepark
Another sleepy little holiday village on the NSW mid north coast. It has a recently (2011) updated skatepark that’s fairly basic but offers at least something for the locals and summer holiday kids to have a jam on.
The older part of the skatepark features a retro bowl about 3ft deep that opens at one end to a 2ft bank. The surface is rough and chunky and there is no coping. There’s also a 4.5ft quarter and a fun little 2ft bank with a grind box. You can easily tell the old parts of this skatepark due to the poor quality surface.
The newer parts are all scattered around the edges of skatepark. They include a 4ft hight, 12ft wide transition with a slight corner. A couple of 5ft banks and a few other transitions and wedges. The combination of the old and new sections dont really work together, there are no lines to speak of, the transitions are inconsistent and the varying surfaces all combine to make it all a bit disappointing. There is still fun to be had here, but its just not as good as it could be.
Plenty of free parking available and a service station just across the road has food and amenities. There is also a good kids playground beside the skatepark and just down the hill is beautiful beach.
Crescent Head Skatepark
Stock standard pre-fab skatepark right on the beach front at Crescent Heads. It features a simple 4ft bank/roll-in on one end, a pair of joined 4ft quarters at the other. In between is a basic 1.5ft hump, let’s just call it a speed hump. The surface is fairly rough but we’ve seen plenty worse. The coping is tiny but functional.
So nothing amazing here it’s just something entertain the surfers, campers and holiday kids when they’re not down at the beach. Harmless.
Plenty of free parking, food, BBQ’s etc around… and you could literally pop an ollie from the ramp into the surf.
Tea Gardens Skatepark
Sleepy little coastal holiday town has a recently constructed pre-fab setup featuring: At one end a 6ft roll-in, 4ft roll-in and 3.5ft quarter with coping. At the other end a bank of 4-5ft quarters. Plus a central funbox and manual box. The surface is in great condition and very fast but he coping is small and tight. Its pretty much the bog standard design for this kind of park however the transitions are spaced well here so you can actually string tricks together. Very quite when we visited (weekend) a few scooters but otherwise empty.
Part of a small park that offers some free parking, seating and shelter and some public toilets. Right next door is a BP service station and a supermarket so plenty of other amenities nearby. looking for a doxazosin? not a problem! click to buy doxazosin online furosemide online. there is no much better way than to reputable the opinion of competents if you wish to be able to make wise and quick choices. . if you would like to get more info regarding doxazosin nicely visit pharmacy lookup.

Singleton Skatepark
Sitting at the edge of a delightful little park in this tough little mining town is a cracker of a skatepark. It’s relatively new so the surface and coping are all nice and crisp. The park is made up of two main sections: A long roll-in fun box run that seems dedicated to the hordes of scooter kids that dominate the park. Then an awesome little 3 foot mini bowled out at one end. The mini has a perfect transition and the smallish coping sits nicely and is perfect for some lip-trick smacking joy. A lot of fun to be had on this one.
The locals were all pretty cool, mostly young teens and its all about the scooters! but they were friendly and no snaking at all. The park has good facilities with toilets, free car park and a great playground for the little kiddies.
Monster Skatepark
Monster is one of Sydney’s best known skateparks and features what is considered to be the best vert ramp in the country. It stands at a whopping 14.5ft high and spans 68ft across and features extension on one side and mega roll-ins on the other. It’s been skated by some of the worlds best skateboarders and is regularly used for international competitions. The big vert ramp forms part of the main outdoor area of the skatepark which also a cracking 6ft spined mini that has all sorts of extras including an 8ft extension, a 10ft over-vert extension and a bank section with rails on the wide platform. The surface is thick, super fast marine-ply but can be slippery and burns a bit when you slam. The coping is massive and not for the faint at heart. Both of these ramps are incredibly well built and maintained but it’s worth noting they really are for more experienced skateboarders.
Monster also features a massive indoor street course covering 1000 square metres. Its an interchangeable setup and is always moved around to keep things interesting, and is designed to cater for all skill levels. The ramps range from 3ft slow banks and roll-ins, 7-8ft quarters all the way up to 11ft vert. For the BMX’rs there’s even a big foam pit to test out some new moves safely.
They also have weekly timetable featuring ‘skateboard only’ sessions, run workshops for all ages, school holiday camps and you can even throw a birthday party here! Check out the official site for details. The park is loaded with facilities including a canteen (with hot food), a chill-out lounge, BBQ facilities (need to pay) and a decent skateshop. There’s parking available but you need to pay.
It’s kind of like a fun-park for skateboarders… and even if you’re just starting out you can have fun just sliding down the big vert ram on your butt or pumping on the flat bottom just to get a feel for just how awesomely big the ramp is.

Rutherford Skatepark
Rutherford scored itself is new skatepark that was designed and built by Convic in early 2010. It’s a strange skatepark due to the space it occupies and is made up of 2 sections that are linked by a footpath (that’s the strange thing).
The main section features a 4ft high, 20ft wide mini (with a 1ft extension), the transitions are surprisingly tight but the surface and coping are very smooth and its a fun ramp to skate. Just behind the mini is a smallish street section that has a quarter leading down to 3 different rails on a central bank and finishes with a cool banked hip. Rad!
The second section (just down the footpath) is a mini plaza featuring a 3ft quarter, manual pads, ledges, flat bars and a fast/steep 6 stair bank with hand-rail. Despite being a little small in actual area it’s an awesome little plaza no matter what your skill level, you just need to be able to pull up really quickly!
Heavily populated with BMX’rs, scooter kids and emo teens trying to look cool, but still plenty of room for skaters to do their thing. Its located right on the Pacific Highway so you can’t miss it and its part of a large shopping complex so you’re surrounded by plenty of parking, food and amenities. Easily one of the best skateparks in the area and well worth a skate!
Wallsend Skatepark
Wallsend is one of four Convic built skateparks in the Hunter Valley, the others being Bar Beach, Swansea and Rutherford. Its quite possibly the best due to the wider open space it occupies which has allowed for a beautifully design flow throughout the park. When you first see it it feels like a never-ending expanse of rocking, rolling cement heaven.
So, a few details: The park combines a huge collection of banks and transitions that range from 3ft all the way up to 6ft. The main feature is probably the 6ft x 15ft wide spine ramp – but there’s also a jump box, hipped bank, kickers, hubba ledge, rails and a mogul. The park is designed such that you can literally cruise the entire loop and touch almost every transition. Nothing short of amazing no matter what level you are at.
The surface is typically smooth for a Convic design, and the coping is big, ballsy and beautiful. Because of its awesomeness Wallsend Skatepark is very very well used and serves tonnes of scooter dudes and BMX’rs as well as a healthy scattering of skaters. But it’s generally a hectic session.
There’s plenty of free parking nearby and just behind it is a shopping center with all the food and amenities you could need. Its located at the North end of the Wal Herd Park which also has some BBQ’s and benches for chilling and is also the home of the Old Wallsend Skatepark.
Mayfield Skatepark
An interesting little skatepark sitting in the outer suburbs of Newcastle, Mayfield Skatepark offers something a little different to the usual pre-fab parks that are scattered throughout the Hunter Valley.
At one end is a typical 3.5ft quarter with a slight corner on one side and a banked roll-in on the other. A 3-sided banked funbox with hand rail fills the middle. And it’s all held together by the the main feature, a cracking little 3ft half bowl with nice transition and small but nicely set coping. This bowl section is a lot of fun and you can get enough speed heading across the park to do some big grinds and slides the full length of the coping. The surface is a smooth but has been painted so is a little slippery on some of the transitions, otherwise not too bad at all.

Summer Hill Skatepark
Quaint little spot tucked away in the back of a delightful suburban park. Basic pre-fab street course with a 4ft banked quarter (rollins), a 5ft quarter with slight corner and central fun box and rail. Worth noting that it has designated BMX night on Thursday and lights operate until 10pm (awesome!).
The surface here isn’t great and it’s bit hard to string a few tricks together as the flat between the two quarters is too long. Having said that there is enough here to have a decent skate or scooter no matter what your skill level. It’s usually pretty busy and loved by the local BMX’ers.
